Object Description

The image displays a forest green field jacket with the front displayed, there are four pockets on the jacket and the sleeves are torn off, and the jacket is covered in sharpie artwork the right of the jacket has the word “stardust” written on the upper right pocket and there are stylized spider webs covering more of the right side, there is also a black circular patch on the front right upper pocket with the words “stay horny for art” written in white paint, three small, roughly quarter sized pins are attached near the lower right pocket. One of the band “rage against the machine” as the design, one with a rainbow lightning bolt, and one that says “chill out” with two melting skulls on it. For the left side, there are three larger pins near the collar, one says “love is love” one is a simple pride flag design, and the last is the band samurai from the fictional world of cyberpunk 2077. To the immediate left of these pins is another patch with a hand painted rat on it, slightly curled into itself. In the bottom right corner of this patch is another pin, displaying the pansexual flag and securing a crochet chain of yarn to the bottom left pocket, where it is again secured with a pin, this one displaying a character from a music video from the band Green Day. sharpied onto the pocket is a small drawing of a cat surrounded by stars, and the phrase “cats against ableism” marked on the top and bottoms of the pocket.

Description

The jacket originated in the WGS-2040 Introduction to LGBTQ Studies class as a passion project from one of the students. The jacket features signatures of all the students in the class as well as different emblems and symbols of queer history. It serves as a relic of the class and the continuity of LGBTQ education and community.
