2023 Open Access Day

The University of Northern Iowa celebrated Open Access Week this year by hosting a campus Open Access Day during International Open Access Week in mid-October. Open Access (OA) advances science and improves society as a whole by having free access to information and unrestricted use of electronic resources for everyone.

On Tuesday, October 24, 2023 the Rod Library hosted a morning Open Access Fair and an afternoon Lecture Series on zero cost programs, an open textbook created at UNI, and demystifying open access publishing. The day's theme is "Information Wants to Be Free: Community over Commercialization". The campus campus community was invited to attend the activities!
