Abstract
The game of basketball is an intricate combination of numerous skills and strategies. One of the most consistent parts of the game is a free throw. The free throw is a closed, complex, discrete skill which is performed under stable conditions. The line is 15 feet from the basket, the player is stationary, there is little time constraint, and the shooting method can be selected by the player. Experts in the field have stressed repetition in their practice, leaving shooting style as an area for debate (Wooden, 1980).
