Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of a suicide prevention program on the degree of suicide risk potential of ninth grade girls enrolled in two health education classes at Independence High School, Independence, KS. The study was descriptive in nature. The Suicide Screening Checklist (SSC) was the questionnaire given to both groups of students during the regular classroom session. First semester health students answered the SSC after completing the suicide prevention unit. Second semester health students answered the SSC without taking the suicide prevention unit. The findings revealed that there was no significant difference between the two semester classes.
