Abstract

Every classroom is a collection of unique individuals with varying abilities and interests. These differences are especially apparent in the elementary reading classroom. Though individual students are reading at many different levels it is still possible for them to work together and to learn from each other.

It is the purpose of this project to assist the third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers of Karen Acres Elementary School in Urbandale, Iowa through the development of multi-level reading webs. These webs may be used to differentiate instruction for those reading both above and below grade level without segregating students into separate groups. Each web centers on a theme which links the various readings and therefore, the learning of the members within a class.
