Abstract

This study is concerned with the effectiveness of a daily newspaper , the Waterloo Daily Courier, as a means of answering for parents the questions considered of most interest and importance to them regarding the school and its program. The study has three major objectives: first, to determine what information is of most interest and concern to parents and whether there is consensus among parents of various sex , age, and occupational groups concerning the information desired; second, to analyze the school news published in the daily newspaper of a community to determine if items published in the daily paper relate to the problems of most interest and concern to parents; third , to determine whether school administrators deliberately endeavor to use the daily newspaper as a medium of providing parents with the information they wish to have about the school .
