Abstract

The great emphasis that the people and government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics place upon the study of music, and the encouragement that they give to musical participation on the amateur and professional levels make an investigation of Soviet music education most appropriate . This study has been made with the hope of achieving a new and better understanding of the Soviet method of educating the people and, more specifically, education as related to music . This age of tremendous unique educational advance brings the responsibility of improved instruction to every society. The future of the United States is dependent upon the youth of today, and every avenue of knowledge and wisdom should be explored to help insure an intellectually rich future. If there is to be improvement in the schools of the United States, an examination of other educational systems is most important.
