Abstract
- To better understand the pathways by which life could be sustained on other planets, it is important to identify the minimal conditions to sustain life on Earth first.
- Saturn’s moon, Titan, may have karst-like caves resembling caves on Earth.
- Icy moons, such as Europa and Enceladus, contain subterranean lakes that harbor organics that may be able to sustain life.
- Wind Cave National Park contains ancient lakes with low concentration of organics, but rich biodiversity representing some of the purest waters on Earth.
