Abstract
At first I was hesitant choosing a creative project for my thesis. I was under the impression that I, a political science major, had to choose something narrowly related to my field in order for it to be seen as a legitimate exercise. I was glad to be able to find a supporting professor that wished to mentor my endeavor. It helped assuage any latent fears that my project wouldn’t be accepted, that my hard work wouldn’t be recognized as the thesis it was. The reason I was so trepidatious was that I’d chosen to write part of a novel. One centered on the urban legend known as The Backrooms, and the liminal space horror it’s made so famous.
