Abstract
As a result of the highly qualified teacher requirements of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004 teachers must have subject matter competency to teach academic content. This has resulted in general education and special education teachers combining their experience in a co-taught classroom. This classroom is a setting that includes students of diverse needs and supports the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) for students. Most general education and special education professionals have little to no training in this area. Due to this there is high need for relevant and rigorous curriculum customized to co-teaching.
