Abstract
The purpose of this research paper was to examine studies that had focused on binge drinking and alcohol use among college varsity athletes in comparison to non-athletes. With much research attention on binge drinking and college students as a whole, an additional purpose was to examine the research specific to drinking behaviors. Based on the reviewed research, it appears college varsity athletes were at greater risk for participation in maladaptive behaviors, such as binge drinking, than their non-athlete counterparts.
