Abstract

For many years now, the area of counseling has been discovering, rediscovering or defining new techniques to increase counselor effectiveness. Attempts have also been made to improve the current conditions of the counselor-counselee relationships. Among these improvements has been the suggestion for matched, by subculture, relationships. The issue has not been to destroy all unmatched relationships, but to argue that if counselors must counsel clients of different cultures at a minimum, training in that particular culture should be considered.
