Abstract
It was the purpose of this study (1) to observe services being offered to children and teachers through an elementary/media program; {2) to investigate organizational practices being used in elementary resource centers; (3) to subjectively evaluate present practices; and (4) to recommend a plan for functional library service in grades K-6. Fourteen elementary library programs were visited for this study. Along -with the observations, time was spent in visitation with the person in charge of each center. To gain uniformity in the type of information on gathered from which to formulate an evaluation of elementary library service, a sampling questionnaire was prepared and used in each interview. Where a coordinator or services director was a part of the school system, this person, too, was interviewed. See Appendix A page 1 for sampling questionnaire. Principals, where and when available, were asked to contribute comments on administrators' attitudes toward a media program.
