Abstract

The alicyclic glycol, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol* has recently been made available in volume quantities by Eastman Chemical Products, Inc. Experimental data obtained by their own laboratories indicate that the diol has unusually good reactivity. 1 The reactivity of the diol has been attributed to the two primary hydroxyl groups . Derivatives of the diol may be of use industrially because they exhibit thermal and hydrolytic stability. Several diesters show excellent permanence as plasticizers in plastic films. 2
