Abstract
It was the purpose of this study to compare the amount of information learned and retained by the students through two approaches to teaching the topic of Area. One approach followed the material presented in a seventh grade arithmetic book; the other followed the material presented in a unit especially constructed for this experiment. The investigation was directed toward the question: Was there a difference between the two teaching methods as measured by the amount of information learned and retained by the students participating in this experiment?
