Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of recreation agency staff involved in a multi-agency inclusive recreation program serving individuals with disabilities in the Cedar Valley region. This study focused on analyzing the agency staff perceptions of 20 service quality attributes offered by the Together We Play program. Importance-performance analysis, an evaluation tool, was used to determine the effectiveness or satisfaction of the inclusion services being offered. Participants in the study (N=43) completed the survey instrument containing four sections: (a) perceived importance of20 service quality attributes, (b) perceived effectiveness of 20 service quality attributes, ( c) agencies willingness to pay for Together We Play inclusion services, and ( d) demographic questions. Data analyses were conducted to determine which attributes were of highest importance to the agencies that Together We Play serves. This study reflected that 16 of the 20 services are of high importance to the agency staff members overall. However, similarities and differences toward the inclusion services existed between the different groups of agency staff members. The researcher determined that Together We Play should focus more efforts on marketing inclusion opportunities to families who have children with disabilities, assist in finding funding options to enable agencies the prospect to offer inclusion services, and provide additional training sessions for agency staff members.
