Abstract
The Third Reich was promised by Hitler to last a thousand years; because of him, it was destroyed in twelve years. In the brief time the Nazi State occupied history's stage, the utter and ruthless control of all German youth was effected through the implementation of the National Socialist Youth Organization, the Hitler Youth. The National Socialist State did not immediately come into being; rather, the group of men responsible for its creation began early to lay the Nazi foundation by systematically indoctrinating many of the German people long before the 1933 assumption of power. After 1933, the National Socialist State found it all the more necessary to educate the German people to accept the tenets of National Socialist ideology. The logical place for such education to begin was with the German youth; thus, the formation of the Hitler Youth, whose purpose, in part, was to carry the various concepts of National Socialism to the youth of Germany.
