Abstract

The thesis consists of three paintings, ten collages, and an accompanying paper. The collages illustrate the ten verses of the song "Desolation Row" by Bob Dylan (from the album Highway 61 Revisited, Columbia Record Company Cl2389, 1965.) The paintings, Self Portrait, Studio, and Window, attempt to illustrate or describe, without direct reference to the song itself, the state of mind of the singer of "Desolation Row," The paper briefly discusses the personal importance of the song to me, and describes some of my working methods.
