Abstract
Every decade of this century has evidenced an increase in the amount of public education being received by American youth. Even so, the magnitude of concern over the number of students dropping out of school has not diminished. In 1900 the rate of students to continue in school until graduation was 6.4 to every 100 seventeen-year-olds in the population; more recently the ratio was 60.0 to every 100.
