Abstract

  • Student safety on campus is of paramount importance to every university.
  • Though, there are mechanisms with emergency phones and campus police to ensure a safe campus, unfortunate incidents still happen.
  • Fortunately, the modern mobile device has a variety of sensors such as accelerometer, gyroscope, light, and GPS, that developers can leverage.
  • We believe that these multimodal sensing capabilities of present-day smartphones will help us to develop an app, that can automatically identify the safe or unsafe state of a student on campus.
