Abstract
The Iowa Lakeside Laboratory, a biological field station, is located in the lakes region of northwest Iowa. Its campus is a tract of about 140 acres of grassland and gallery forest adjacent to Miller's Bay on the west shore of West Okoboji Lake. The entire shore of this section of the lake is controlled by the Laboratory and serves as natural collecting and experimental ground for the work of the staff and students. Research and instruction are done in seven laboratories and a lecture hall, arranged in an arc from the waterfront around the crest of a grassy hill. Across a wooded ravine are set the cottages, dormitories, and large mess hall where all meals are taken.
