Abstract
The slap hitting technique in softball has become more prevalent in today’s game as athletes become faster and faster. By utilizing the slap hitting technique, the batter is positioned closer to first base and moving at a greater speed when contact with the ball is made. Most of the information currently available about slap hitting at this point all deals with the mechanics of teaching a person how to slap hit. There is almost none pertaining to the kinematics of the slapping softball swing. This study of the kinematics of the slap swing provided previously unknown information about the slap hitting technique.
