Abstract

This project is a design for effective professional development sessions in teaching about technology to K-12 educators. Effective professional development in technology can be difficult, therefore this project provides a general overview of a professional development series as well as detailed professional development session designs. The plan was developed for a rural school district with a focus on face-to-face professional development incorporating three components for an effective professional development: Modeling, Discussing, and Mentoring. The structure for the professional development design was reviewed by a planning team for the district as well as a technology coach from an outside district. Modifications were made to the original plan inspired by their recommendations.
