Abstract
The K-2 Iowa Core Technology Literacy Integration website was developed as a resource for kindergarten through second grade teachers in the College Community School District. The site contains ideas for integration of the Iowa Core K-2 Technology Literacy standards into the language arts, science, and social studies curricula and includes descriptions of technology tools, tutorials, and lesson plans. Technology tools and integration ideas were based on suggestions from the American Library Association & American Association of School Librarians (2012), Gordon (2009), Iowa Association of School Librarians (2012), Lamb & Johnson(2012), Lin (2011), and the National Association for Young Children and the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media at Saint Vincent College (NAEYC, 2012a). Lesson plans were selected for inclusion in the online resource based on assessment for learning lesson design elements (College Community School District, n.d.), the rigor and relevance framework (International Center for Leadership in Education, 2012), and the NAEYC’s developmentally appropriate practice beliefs (NAEYC, 2009a ; NAEYC, 2009b).
