Abstract

As a middle school science teacher I chose to complete the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) certification portfolio for my non-thesis option in the area of Early Adolescence/Science.

I primarily undertook this project knowing that it would bring me closer to achieving my goal of becoming an accomplished teacher. I believed that pursuing this non-thesis option would force me to make a conscious and deliberate effort to objectively assess for weaknesses and strengths in my teaching practices and to make adjustments accordingly using the knowledge that I acquired during my master's education.
