Abstract
This paper looks to examine the issue of coeducational and single-sex physical education since the inception of Title IX. Although there does not seem to be an overwhelming consensus in the research surrounding the issue, there is quite a large body of research and strong potential for further inquiry. The electronic databases of EBSCOhost, Expanded Academic ASAP, and PsycARTICLES were consulted to explore the literature. In addition, the investigator searched several research journals including: Journal of Teaching in Physical Education; Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance; Physical Educator; Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport; Adolescence; and Journal of Educational Psychology, among others.
