Abstract
Emission control systems required by the federal government to reduce exhaust, crankcase, and fuel system emissions a.re resulting in engines that have a. totally new set of fundamental characteristics. This paper is intended to examine the various emission control systems and attempt to gain insight into their effect on engine performance, economy, service and trouble shooting techniques that will make servicing these engines more effective.
