Abstract
Incest, defined by Taylor (1984) as " ... the sexual touching between an adult and a child in a family for the personal gratification of the adult", is a serious problem in the United States (p. 195). In particular, father-daughter incest has been seen by counselors and therapists as a more frequently reported problem (Finkelhor, 1984). Finkelhor's (1978) survey results stated that at least 5 women out of every 1000 had been sexually abused by their fathers. However, a more recent study by Russell (1984) reported that 1 out of 44 women had incestuous relationships with their biological fathers.
