Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provide administrators with the knowledge of certain effective active learning techniques and strategies in order that they may help improve the quality of the instruction delivered in the classrooms. Knowledge of such techniques is pertinent in order for administrators to recognize and reinforce such practices when they observe them being employed by classroom teachers. When such techniques are identified and praised by the administrator, there is greater likelihood that the classroom teacher will continue to employ such strategies (Browne and Keeley, 1985). More importantly, it is crucial that administrators have a strong knowledge of such strategies so that they may effectively inservice teachers who do not presently employ active learning techniques.
