Abstract
A literacy program that was implemented and introduced to the parents and students in the writer's third grade classroom is described. The goal of the literacy program was to nurture reading and writing in the home environment. Four literacy projects were included in the literacy program: "Tell Me About Your Child" (parents were invited to share about their children through writing), "Home Response Journals" (students/parents responded to a literature work read at home through the writing process), "Family Stories" (parents/children experienced the writing process together selecting a topic of their choice), and "Literature Retellings" (students responded through expressive activities to a literature work read at home).
