Abstract
One hundred twenty-eight students from Expo High School, an alternative school in Waterloo, Iowa, were interviewed to determine whether they enjoy reading, the type of material they prefer to read, and the most dominant factor limiting their recreational reading. An analysis of the data indicated that Expo students do enjoy reading during their leisure time, prefer reading fiction material, and report that time is the factor which most limits their leisure reading. Differences were found between male and female readers in the type of materials read and recommended for purchase by the school library media specialist.
