Abstract
An educational intervention with forgiveness as the goal was implemented with five adolescents who had experienced a parental divorce. The goal of the intervention was for the experimental participants to forgive their parents for a hurt associated with divorce. An exploratory, pretest-posttest design with a no treatment control group was used. Following the intervention, the experimental group illustrated statistically significant greater hope and decreased trait anxiety compared to the control group. Verbal reports from the experimental group, post-intervention illustrate that the forgiveness education did increase the adolescents' feelings of forgiveness toward their parent(s) and had a positive influence on their psychological well-being. © 2003 by The Haworth Press, Inc.
