Abstract
Two of the most widely used methods to control nonferrous casting solidification are cooling fins and external chills. Although these methods are applied differently, their functions provide for a more sufficient solidification process. This paper compares the effectiveness of the two cooling aids and develops practical recommendations on their applications.
