Abstract
Bio-based and mineral oil-based rail curve greases that are commercially in use in the US were studied. The project involved field testing on a revenue service railroad. Three mineral oil based rail curve greases and six bio-based rail curve greases were tested and the results were tabulated. Detailed information on the comparative performance and recommendations for future research are elucidated. This is an abstract of a paper to be presented at the NLGI 80th Annual Meeting (Tucson, AZ 6/15-18/2013).
