Abstract
At 8:00 p.m. March 9, 2018, mezzo soprano Megan Grey and pianist Dr. Korey Barrett presented a vocal recital in Davis Hall at the University of Northern Iowa, in partial fulfillment of the Master of Voice Performance degree. Selections included a recitative and air by Handel, a set of songs by Beethoven, mélodies by Fauré, and Lieder by Robert Schumann. This document serves as a guide through the recital program, exploring poetic settings and meaning, harmonic and melodic structures, musical interpretation, and historical context.
