Abstract

When I began to paint I was one of many who intuitively or by some practical reasons had chosen art as an area in which to work and to make a living. At that time I imagined art as something extra-ordinary, beautiful, always interesting and exciting--as some sort of holiday or celebration. The fine arts and, particularly, painting, are areas that make this celebration everlasting. Just thinking about the works of Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo and the drawings from the Lascaux caves would make every beginner in Art thrilled to be in touch with the creation of eternal beauty. As my art studies continued, my definition of beauty has expanded. I understand that aesthetic standards are changeable and transitory. However, for me there are some eternal qualities of beauty from nature that are independent of any human involvement. They are color and light. Color and light place every object in harmonious unity and this natural harmony is beauty.
