Abstract
Roman Catholic Christianity confesses the belief that man is "like the angels--slightly less than God," when he realizes and fulfills his supernatural vocation through the process of intellectual contemplation, guided by theological thought which is guarded and revealed by the Pope who speaks as and for Christ, having been granted this power by Christ. There are some who cannot accept this view, especially if it incorporates papal infallibility, which they see as a fable, built upon the testimony of Papias of Hierapolis which was elaborated upon by Clement of Alexandria . The office of the papacy is looked upon as a hindrance to intellectual growth, which demands, tautologically, dictatorially and irrationally blind obedience and acceptance.
