Abstract
Human beings are extremely complicated creatures living in a very complex world. To enable young people to adjust to the complexity of the modern society, assistance is given through the guidance services in schools. This is no longer a service peculiar to any one school system, but a principle which is accepted in most countries throughout the world. The United States of America has led the field in the guidance movement and many of the problems now facing other countries have been solved in some measure by the initiative of research investigators and practice of educators in America. It is natural, therefore, that New Zealand, which has based its guidance program on the principles established in this country, should look to the United States of America for assistance with the development of a more extensive program for training teacher-counselors.
