Abstract
This thesis is a collection of short fiction produced during my time as a graduate student at the University of Northern Iowa. As its title may suggest, there is a level of cynicism in the overall theme, but closer inspection will reveal that I have attempted to incorporate elements of ambiguity in the potential outcomes. My intention is that every reader will come away with a unique interpretation based on what they have personally "brought" while reading my stories.
