Abstract
In Russell Hall Auditorium May 3, 1994 at 6 p.m. Mary Ann Fountain, soprano, presented a Graduate Recital in partial fulfillment of the Master of Music degree. She was assisted by pianist, Marleta Matheson. The recital featured works from the Classical era through the twentieth century, including "Porgi, amor" from Le nozze di Figaro by Mozart, Robert Schumann's Gedichte der Konigin Maria Stuart. Op. 135, three French songs of Ernest Chausson, "Donde lieta usci" from Giacomo Puccini's La Boheme. and four songs selected from Dominick Argento's song cycle Casa Guidi. This abstract includes a discussion of the poetry and musical concepts as they relate to the interpretation of the individual selections on this program.
