Abstract

Distributive education is a program of instruction designed to educate people for the field of distribution. This program often uses an adaptation of the apprentice method, with the student learner taking regular classwork in school while working part-time for wages at some assigned local business firm. The student learner receives instruction in the discipline of distribution both during his on-the-job training and during the related class in the distributive education laboratory. The laboratory provides many opportunities for worthwhile training in store techniques such as selling and advertising, working out practical problems of store operation, and other store-related problems that can be solved under these simulated merchandising conditions. An adequately equipped distributive education laboratory provides a realistic environment for solving these problems.
