Abstract
This study analyzed the arguments, evidence, and style of the comments by The Honorable Harold Royce Gross on the subject of agriculture from the debates in the House of Representatives. Dating from January 3, 1949, to August 30, 1964, the thesis covered approximately sixteen years of the Congressman's life in politics. Separate from the analysis of his comments is a résumé of his adult life: his college training, his journalism and radio work, and his participation in politics. An additional chapter reviews the changes and problems in agriculture during that period. The three main chapters were concentrated on an analysis of the arguments, evidence, and style of his comments from the Congressional Record.
