Abstract
On the evening of November 22nd, 2019, at 6:00 PM, soprano Elizabeth Wiley and pianist Dr. Korey Barrett gave a recital of art songs in Davis Hall on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Music in Vocal Performance degree. This recital consisted of musical selections including Spanish songs by Granados, Ginastera, and Obradors, a selection of Lieder by Robert Schumann, a group of French mélodies by Poulenc, and the song cycle On this island, Op. 11 by Benjamin Britten. This paper acts as guide, providing brief historical information, along with commentary regarding musical interpretation and style.
