Project Summary
I have created a new digital magazine called Mag Pie. The purpose of the magazine is to recognize and celebrate talented community members who are doing interesting things, along with general items of interest, all tied to a theme each issue. The end goal of this project is to build connections between people with similar interests to perpetuate local activities that make our community stronger. I want to promote what Iowans have to offer in the ways of culture, and recognize that a lot of cool things are happening here, because we are making them happen. I'm an artist myself, and find that I have a hard time being motivated to make art for myself. When it's all about me, it's easier to let it fall to the wayside. I decided that if I can use my skills and interests to help promote other people's passions, it will give me some accountability and more of a purpose for the magazine to be of service to others. The first issue of the magazine is scheduled to come out in late April. so I will have something to present by April 19th. The theme of the first issue is "The Wonder Women" and will be featuring articles by and about women. I hope that by presenting at the celebration day, I will get more people added to my mailing list and help get the word out to build readership.
