Abstract
Laser tracking systems are used for detecting and tracking targets with specified characteristics like the shape and the color of an object. It can have many applications in various areas, such as laser in cutting tools with critical tolerance, multi-axis machining, milling operations. It also, can be used outside industrial area. For example, image processing application used in this program can be used to search for small blood stains in big areas by swapping the whole area in the day or night using infrared or UV lights. The laser tracking system in this project consists of Arduino and MATLAB. Images from the camera are analyzed using MATLAB image processing program, and the processing results are transmitted to the Arduino board. The Arduino board then controls the servo motors connected to the laser to position the laser to desired location. The results shows that the implemented method is still able to find and track objects with different color and shapes successfully.
