Abstract
The first-person narrator in "Two Funerals” tries to make sense of relationships in the aftermath of, first his father's funeral, and then, twelve years later, the death of the family dog. I would like to think that the piece explores the cultural demands of masculinity, but perhaps it is simply an absurdist rendering of grief, or the lack thereof.
