Professor, Visual Communication & Interactive Digital Studies Bettina Fabos will introduce three feminist digital projects from 30 years of digital video and website production: Lessons (1991, detailing sexual harassment during a violin lesson); Proud & Torn: A Visual Memoir of Hungarian History (2017, featuring the overlooked narrative of Fabos’ Hungarian aunt), and Fortepan Iowa (2020), a rich archival platform of Iowa family snapshots that encourages a rewriting of Iowa history to include stories about rural women, LGBTQ people, and the disenfranchised.
