Abstract
- An analysis of teacher's using the techniques of number and dot talks to have students interact with each other while learning mathematics.
- A Number Talk is typically a “five- to fifteen-minute classroom conversation around purposefully crafted problems that are solved mentally” (Parrish & Dominick, 2016, p.13).
- Although Number Talks are increasingly being implemented in K- 12 classrooms, there is little research that describes the efficacy of Number Talks or the variations that teachers introduce into the routine (Matney, 2020).
