Abstract

  • The Fulton 7.5’ Quadrangle lies within a geographic region known as the East-Central Iowa Drift Plain.
  • The East-Central Iowa Drift Plain is characterized by glacial deposits that occurred over 1.8 million years ago. These glacial deposits are part of what makes up the loose soil material, which overlays a bedrock surface that is about 360-485 million years old.
  • This area experiences significant change in elevation from the highest points to the lowest points in the Quadrangle.
