The left side has a handwritten message, "Chicago, Illinois, August 23, 1913, Dear old pals, Just a card this evening. Someday I will write a long letter. I ain't felling very well. This evening am all alone. The kids are out all afternoon and evening. Ed is working nights till 2 a.m. tomorrow morning. It is nice and cool today and this evening. Everybody has on their light coats. I am so glad. Makes a person feel like winter. As space is scarce I will have to close." The right side is addressed to Mrs. Annie Wheeler, 1107 and a half West Walnut Street, Des Moines, Iowa. The lower left side contains small print reading, "Copyrighted 1912 by C. Wolf, New York."
